Gorgeous Scrappy Strips

This card is so quick and easy yet looks like – OH MY GOODNESS – how could I ever accomplish something as beautiful as that. You can do it! You will need coordinating card stock and strips of Designer Series Paper or various coordinating colors of card stock (as shown above).

Cardstock:

  • Basic Black Card Base – 8 ½ x 5, 2) 5 ¼ x 4 and scrap
  • Various (4-5 colors) coordinating cardstock colors or Designer Series Paper
  • Basic White – 5 x 3 ¾ and a scrap

Items needed to make the card:

  • Adhesive
  • Memento Ink
  • Silicone Mat   (#127853)
  • Classic Label Punch (#141491)
  • Dimensionals (#104430)
  • Rectangle Stitched Framelits (#148551)
  • Paper Snips (#103579)
  • Paper Trimmer (#152392)

Create the Scrappy Strips Card:

  • Cut paper into scrappy strips (not even strips).
  • Using the silicone mat place one of the 5 ¼ x 4 Basic Black on the mat.  Take the strips and adhere to the Basic Black leaving strips at the top and bottom.  Take the next strip and leave a very small space between the first and second and adhere to the Basic Black.  Continue until all strips are on the Basic Black.
  • Using your Paper Trimmer or glue scissors trim the tops and bottoms of the strips off and then trim off any that are on the sides.  Now using your Paper Trimmer trim the item to 5 x 3 ¾.
  • Stamp inside sentiment on the Basic White and take the strip you cut off the bottom and adhere to the Whisper White inside of card.  Make sure the strips match up with the way your panel will appear on the front of the card.  Adhere to inside of card.
  • Using adhesive, adhere the completed front panel to the other Basic Black 5 ¼ x 4 card base. Using dimensionals adhere to the front of the card base.
  • Stamp sentiment on scrap Whisper White and using the Classic Label Punch, punch the sentiment out.
  • Using the Rectangle Stitched Framelits, cut the smallest – longest rectangle out.  Adhere the sentiment to the Rectangle and then using dimensionals adhere to the front bottom of the card.

This technique is based on an original design by Bruno Bertucci.
