A Little Inspiration, a Little Shimmer, and a Beautiful Fall Card!

A little while ago, I received a beautiful card in a swap, and although I can’t remember who created it, I absolutely fell in love with the design! They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so I couldn’t resist putting my own creative spin on it!

For this card, I used the Phrases & Frames Dies along with the Impressions Plate to add beautiful texture and dimension to the frame. It’s such a simple technique, but it really makes the design stand out!

And can we talk about this gorgeous paper? I used the Glow of Harvest Specialty Designer Series Paper (#168598), our August Product of the Month. Its soft, subtle shimmer adds just the right amount of sparkle without being overpowering. It’s absolutely perfect for creating beautiful fall cards!

Supplies:

Cajun Craze card stock #129684 Card base – 8 ½ x 5 ½
Early Espresso card stock #119686 – 4 ½ x 3 ½ and a scrap for frame
Glow of Harvest Specialty DSP #168598 – 4 ¼ x 3 ¼ and ¾ x 4 (for inside bottom of sentiment piece)
Very Vanilla #166784 – 5 ¼ x 4 (inside for sentiment) and a scrap for the center of the frame
Early Espresso Ink #147114
Sending Salutations Photopolymer Stamp Set #167867
Phrases & Frames Dies #167586 (this is also part of a bundle #167587)

Instructions:

  1. Adhere the Glow of Harvest Specialty Designer Series Paper to the Early Espresso cardstock. Using your paper trimmer, cut the layered piece diagonally at an angle.
  2. Adhere each piece to the card front, positioning the diagonal cut edges toward the left and right sides, as shown in the photo.
  3. Die cut scraps of Very Vanilla and Early Espresso cardstock using the Phrases & Frames Dies. Then, use the Impressions Plate to emboss the Early Espresso frame by running it through your die-cutting machine.
  4. Stamp your sentiment on the Very Vanilla die-cut piece. Stamp your inside sentiment on the 5 ¼ x 4 piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.
  5. Add Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the Very Vanilla stamped sentiment and the Early Espresso frame. Adhere both pieces to the front of the card.
  6. Adhere the ¾ x 4 strip of Glow of Harvest DSP to the bottom of the 5 ¼ x 4 Very Vanilla cardstock. Then adhere this piece to the inside of your card.
  7. Add your favorite embellishments to the front of the card.

    Voilà! Your beautiful card is complete!
